FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization for Capstar (nitenpyram) and revised the EUA for generic Nitenpyram Tablets so both products may be used to prevent and treat New World screwworm myiasis in dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens that weigh at least two pounds and are at least four weeks old. FDA says most U.S. dogs and cats remain at low risk because confirmed cases are geographically limited.

USDA APHIS approved release of two New World screwworm infested zones in Texas after officials determined that release criteria in the response playbook had been met. Movement requirements tied specifically to those released zones were removed, although several Texas infested zones remain in place.

USDA APHIS updated its national wild-bird surveillance page for highly pathogenic avian influenza. Wild birds may carry HPAI without obvious illness and can introduce virus into new areas, making surveillance an early-warning tool for poultry and other susceptible populations.

FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization for Dectomax/Dectomax-CA1 (doramectin injection) for prevention and treatment of New World screwworm infestations in several livestock and cervid species.
